The Road Less Traveled… Where I’ve Been, Where I’m Going

I wrote this in Sedona, AZ in May 2007.  I have never shared it before but felt I wanted to share it now.

I see a dead tree with arms up to the sky, like a yoga pose.  I have a choice of two paths, can’t see the end of either path.  I can go to the right and have a steep climb, or I can choose to  stay on the same level path.

I choose to go to the right.  I may have to come down again, but for now I must see and feel this awesome place.  Now that I am up here, I can see more clearly where I am going.  Tears well up in my eyes and I cry with joy that I have come this far.   It feels good to rest.  I don’t need to go any higher now.

After my rest, I feel different about continuing to climb.  It feels like something or someone is beckoning me to keep going and go higher.  I don’t need to go back, not now. Slowly I move forward on my climb up.  Where will it take me?  Perhaps someplace magical… What is around the next corner?

Everywhere I look, something resembles something, a twisted branch lying between two trees.  I look down at it.  It is not an obstacle.  I turn around and look up to find a bird scolding or praising me.  I’m not sure which but he wanted to get a better look at me so he gets closer and closer until I can see his eyes.  He definitely is giving me a message that he approves of what I’m doing too.  Then before I could take a picture he flies off with a mate.

As I continue to climb, I stop to look back to see where I was a few minutes ago.  It looked out of reach a minute ago and now I’m up here.   It feels great that I’ve come this far.  I will need to go down sometime, but I can come up here any time I choose.  I find it is easier to climb up than to climb down.  Just like my dreams had told me.  I ask the angels and Theresa’s spirit to help me get down to the path again.

Sometimes there are big boulders in the stream of life.  Since I cannot move this boulder I will walk around it.  Maybe I will lean on it while I contemplate where I want to go next.  I walk again on the path provided for me, sometimes in the rain, sometimes in the sun, sometimes in the cool summer breeze and sometimes in the cold dark shadows of night.  All the time I trust that I am safe.  I listen and follow the messages I am given.

There may be sadness, sickness, pain and hurt, but it is my path.  I listen and KNOW that I am doing the very best I can with God’s help.  Many times I experience joyful occasions where smiles come easily, and I rejoice and hoot and holler and beat the drums loud!   There are more of these times of happiness now that I have found love and love has found me.

To get to that state of love is a path for all to take.  Some choose to take the dirt road or the slower way, others will choose to take the highway and go at top speed.

As our physical body finds it isn’t capable of doing what we would like to do we realize we need to rest and find alternative ways and energy to enjoy every minute of each day.

We thank our supportive friends and family.  Those who shared glad times and sad times, the bike rides in the country, the many camping trips with loved ones.  Thanks for the breeze from the hot sun…..  To be continued

Create Infinite Possibilities

Create Infinite Possibilities to Nurture and Protect Your Breast Health

Are we so wrapped up in our thinking and activity that we loose touch with our senses?  Sensing brings us fully into the moment.  When we take an apple in our hand, our mouth starts to water, and we feel gratitude to have a ripe juicy apple to taste and enjoy.  When we hear a children playing or a baby crying, what are the feelings we have about that experience?  When we see beautiful sunset or the brilliant color of the leaves on the trees in Fall, do we give thanks for our eyesight and wish we could capture it forever in our mind?   When we smell a beautiful scent, as in a rose,  we want to wear it, and have it part of us.

Only when we are aware and conscious can we receive the gifts of experience.  Awareness is a mind-set to change our past and everyday patterns of living and create new, meaningful  experiences where  we start to slow down and enjoy each moment.

Just imagine, What if we could create infinite possibilities for ourselves and loved ones in breast health by using quality therapeutic essential oils and learning a few easy techniques and practices.  What if the benefits of certain essential oils and a gentle lymphatic self breast massage could erase the pain and tenderness, lumps and bumps in our breast tissue?  What if we could teach every woman we know to love and accept their body just the way it is.  What if we could not only keep a breast, but save many breasts and lives?

We are exposed to toxins in our environment every day.  These toxins may be both physical and emotional and they build up in our body.  The organs of detoxification become overwhelmed and do not perform effectively ,resulting in a weakened immune system, causing discomfort, pain and a wide variety of physical and emotional conditions.

We have learned quality essential oils have unique properties, including bringing a higher vibration to our bodies.

They are anti bacterial; some are anti fungal, anti-viral and/ or anti-parasitic.   They bring more oxygen to the cells.    They raise the frequency of the body to levels at which disease cannot exist.  They benefit all levels, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual at the same time.   They stimulate the release of endorphins and have the capacity to clear and balance emotional trauma  and negative patterns.

What if we could move to higher vibrations with our breast health?  Many women feel their breasts are too big too small, to saggy, or somehow not right.  Many women live in fear everyday wondering when it will be their turn to be told they have breast cancer.  What if essential oils can help release that anxiety?

What if we could learn to love our bodies, just the way they are?    What if we can learn a loving self breast massage that would improve our immune system, stimulate the lymphatic system to move toxins out?  And lastly what if we can change our thoughts to feel, know and trust that we have the innate ability to heal ourselves?                Because we Do!

Time Keeps Marching On

“Time does not stand still.”  My mom would say those  words often, with a ring in her voice.  As the days seem to retreat into nights and the next day dawns, those words still ring in my heart.  Does it matter?  What is time all about anyway?

It’s been a short memorable summer.  Our grandson’s wedding on May 14th was just the beginning of  lots of celebrating this summer.  Even though the day was quite cool and rainy, the bride and groom never stopped smiling.  Everyone enjoyed the entire day and danced into the night.  They even played a few polka dances just for grandma and grandpa.

A bout ten days later we were on our way with our daughter and son in law to a grandson’s graduation in Montana.   Much flooding in Montana kept us from taking shorter routes.   The day after the graduation party we took a quick trip to Glacier National Park.  In the beautiful snow covered Rocky Mountains we took a hike on top of  3 feet of snow to see a double waterfall.    The Badlands of South Dakota were awesome this time around.   We saw flowers,  and there was a lot of green, not as I remembered it in the 1960′s. There were paths leading to” doors and windows” that looked out to vast areas of Badlands.

Getting the pond ready, planting and tending to vegetable and perennial gardens was very challenging this year.  Keeping our pet ducks and other critters out was almost impossible.  July was in full bloom as we celebrated at our granddaughter’s wedding on July 16th.   It was very special for me, and I couldn’t help but give everyone a hug after the ceremony.

August came with birthdays, farm shows, and going through 50 years of pictures to put together for our 50th anniversary party on Sept 10th.   It was a monumental task,  sorting  old black and white pictures in 1961 through digital saved pictures in folders.    Many needed to be scanned, cropped and arranged in folders.  I learned stuff I had never done before and it was exhilarating to get it all done!  We had three picture boards and a short slide show for our families to see  as they celebrated with us.

“Time keeps marching on” another quote Mom would say about time.  So now as we march into Fall, we gather in the last vegetables as we put the gardens to rest.   Taking my mom for a ride to the apple orchard was one of our favorite things to do in Fall.   She would smile, watch out the window an ask again “where are we going?”  She was 90, Sept. 2002

Nettles Sting-Dandelions Disliked?

Nettles and dandelions, both Spring herb “weeds” are often shunned and treated as weeds and discarded.  With a little education, we may all learn to appreciate these herb weeds in our backyard!  Lets take a second look and learn  how to use them to enhance our food.  We buy supplements with boron (in nettle) and dandelion in teas.  Learning  the medicinal benefits is what interested me in gathering Stinging Nettle leaves and dandelion leaves and blossoms.   Early Spring is the best time to harvest, when the plants are young.   Stinging nettle likes rich soil and I have found it in my perennial garden as well as under some low growing pines where we had dumped leaves years ago.   You may want to wear gloves when harvesting, but it is not necessary if you gather the leaves carefully.

Why do nettles sting?  How can they be good for you if they sting?   The leaves and stem have stinging hairs, which inject histamine which causes a stinging  sensation when touched.   Stinging  Nettle has many  medicinal benefits when eaten.   Traditionally it is a spring tonic , cleansing the body of metabolic wastes.  It gently stimulates the lymphatic system, releasing toxic waste through the kidneys.  It is rich in iron,  excellent for circulation,  red blood cells, anemia and fatigue.  Studies show it to be as effective as an anti-inflammatory drug  especially for arthritis, joint and muscle pain.   It is similar to dandelion leaf in eliminating uric acid from joints.

Nettle leaves can be steamed like spinach served with butter, or make a mild refreshing  tea that can be sweetened with honey. I dry the leaves for later use in meats and egg dishes.

Dandelion has some of the same benefits as nettle and more.  The young leaves, flowers and buds are great in salads.  Dandelion helps the liver and gall bladder  break down fat for detoxification, and the kidneys  as a  diuretic.  They have a taste similar to chicory, and an  abundance of vitamins and minerals.  Dandelion leaves provide; potassium, magnesium, niacin, calcium, phosphorus, proteins, iron, sulphur, zinc, vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E.  Dandelion with redily available magnesium, increases bone density.   Could that help to prevent bone disorders and osteoporosis?

Make a salad with dandelion leaves chopped with sheep feta cheese, olive oil, and onion is a nice combo.
I add it to other salad greens for a delicious, nutritious side dish for lunch or dinner.

Please share your comments and suggestions  about using Stinging Nettle and Dandelion.

I’m Not lost, I’m Exploring

I heard Jana Stanfield, sing the song “ I’m Not Lost, I’m Exploring” years ago at a Tupperware Convention I attended.  It seemed to make a lot of sense as  I pondered about my particular purpose.  I enjoyed doing what I was doing.  I was educating women then about storing and serving their food in safe Tupperware products.  Sometimes I would get lost as  I traveled in  15 -20 counties,  but most of the time I planned ahead, using maps to figure out which roads to take and how long it would take me.  I would make several stops or parties in one direction,  so planning was very important.  There was time for exploring, and sometimes a nap, if my day was going to be a long one.

Today, I’m still not lost ,but exploring.   Even though I may appear lost to a few people, confidently I spread my wings and step into new areas where women gather.  I know now my purpose is to educate women again.  This time it is to give them information, tools and techniques to use in taking care of their physical bodies, especially  breast care.    I offer  lessons in self care, using therapeutic essential oils and a loving  self -lymphatic  breast massage as an alternative to what else is offered “out there”.   Healthy Girls Breast Oil was created to nurture and protect in 2007.    Choosing therapeutic essential oils, some with D’Limonene,  which clinical studies have proved effective against abnormal cell growth,  may be the alternative women are seeking.
